Pictures are from – May, June and October 2010.
October is my favourite month in Florence with sunshine and long shadows from the cypress trees – this year we painted indoors and out – landscapes and portraits – and had a lot of fun!
June is undoubtedly hot in Florence so we went to the hills to catch the wind – such as it was – and enjoy the sunshine.
We made the most of the shelter in the churchyard in the mornings and the glorious views over the city as dusk approached.
May is the best month for roses in Florence – many of the secret gardens behind the Palazzi open their gates for the public to enjoy the scents and smells of these beautiful flowers.
Diane’s garden also had a beautiful display, which we all sought to capture in watercolour over our week’s workshop.
In addition we took to the hills over Florence to try to capture the essence of the view from Piazzale Michelangelo.
First attempt is the version on the left – from lady with no experience in painting since schoolday – the second after 4 days in the sunshine!
