Alan's Studio

Gold leaf is gold that has been hammered into thin sheets by goldbeating and is often used for gilding.

It was introduced in mosaics in later Early Christian art, and then used in icons and Western panel paintings until the late Middle Ages. All techniques use these sheets of gold leaf – a modern example is shown below..

In this short introductory lesson, Alan will teach us the basics of the process and how to apply this semi-precious material to a simple design. Below is an image that my friend Diane did after our fresco class last month.

If we get hooked, and we probably will do, we can start working on more complex designs and I will schedule a series of classes throughout this year.

Special working aprons are being produced fro this class!

Cost €70 for the lesson, your own personal image to take home to show off your new skill!
