Glynis Barnes Mellish
Glynis is a stimulating and exciting demonstrator of watercolour techniques and has over 20 years experience in both teaching and demonstrating painting worldwide. Our next course is in Florence from 14-16 March 2014
With the publication of her books, including the Watercolour Workshop series published by DKV, she is able to teach using valuable reference guides and illustrations of her own work and unique painting style.
Glynis has an easy and well-crafted approach and will show you, step by step how to build and develop wonderful paintings.
Glynis’s artistic ability became evident whilst she was still a small child and by her early teens she had experimented with a wide range of painting mediums and styles of expression. Later, during her years of study, she found she was drawn towards the medium of watercolour and became fascinated by what she saw as an exciting and fresh approach to portraiture.
Through constantly exploring the way in which the unique qualities of watercolour can be used to produce light and vitality in her work, Glynis has developed a skill in portraiture that captures not only the subject’s likeness but also his very soul in a single moment of time.

studied at : St Albans School of Art and the West Surrey School of Art and Design
Qualifications : B.A.Hons Degree in Fine Art : Advanced Combined Fine Art Degree
Winner of the Daler/Rowney Watercolour Award in 1988 Glynis has been a major contributor to many books on Watercolour painting
Her book, Watercolour Workshop was published in 2006 followed by Watercolour Workshop II published spring 2007
Glynis has painted numerous celebrities and has work hanging in many stately homes in Britain, some like Mapple Durham House in Oxfordshire are open to the public.
Her work is published by Solomon & Whitehead as limited edition prints.
In addition Glynis has lectured, run workshops and demonstrated extensively throughout the UK and Europe

You can choose from a one-day, two day, five day or 6 day (non residential course) option

NB the next course is 2 days long and contains a portraiture workshop by request.
A substantial lunch is included in the price.
NB Easels are available on site and I do have spare painting materials to share. However we have found most people usually prefer to use their own paints and brushes.
