In May we will have an exclusive opportunity to meet musician Anthony Sidney in the refectory of St Marks Church in Florence – He will introduce us to his passion for the unseen bells of Florence and his earlier DVD on the subject of the unique sounds of each of the Florentine Bells.

The Bells of Florence

This is a chance to contribute to the development of the next project and it is certain that you will see something of Florence that is rarely seen by the average tourist.

The Lapidarium of San Marco is usually closed off and visitors to the museum are not permitted to visit it.  It is a special zone of the museum where a great part of Florentine history is held, but not put on display.

The charge is going to be quite high at €250 but Anthony Sidney explains that he hopes this will be offered as a donation to his new film -“The Bells of Tuscany”- which like all films requires finance to get completed.

Visitors to this event will therefore  fall into the status of “doners” and their names will be recorded in the film credits. It you get interested in further involvement in the project it will be possible to offer more later at the moment of fund raising, but no-one will be obliged to donate further!!

And .. to make the visit even more interesting we will also taste wine and olive oil and eat pure chocolate goodies – all local produce that is being offered by the suppliers as their contribution to the project!

The final Date still  hasn’t been  agreed  but we plan to hold the event in May and San Marco has agreed to this  – watch this space for the final details!!
