What a beautiful day to go running!
Yesterday more more than 10,000 people – including our Mayor Matteo Renzi – took to the cobbled streets and beautiful bridges of Florence and ran, walked or limped up to 42 kilometres to raise money for charity.
It was a glorious sight to watch this colourful parade full of pride and energy at the start and truly humbling to some of the less fit struggle towards the finish line towards 3pm.
I am kicking myself that I hadnt realised that participation was online and the event was free to enter. Running through the streets of Florence – notwithstanding the uneven pavements – is one of my great memories having run the Corri La Vita the year before – and the weather that day was rather less glorious than yesterday when the bright sunshine made even watching a joy – and of course less painful than taking part – but without the pride and sense of achievement!!
