opera at the opera company based in St Mark’s English Church in Via Maggio– so imagine my delight why I found it was on the programme – for the very first time – for tonight!

Director and producer and occasional pianist, Frans Moser (at piano above) seemed a little worried when he introduced the plot of the opera and asked us for clemency for any mistakes – but he need not have worried – any mistakes were too small to trouble us -and the music was – especially the voice of the Japanese newcomer to the group Miki Shibahara who was Cio cio San – just delightful.
As always the cast were rewarded with a standing ovation – with a loud cheer for Ilse Moser’s young nephew – who seemed surprised and delighted by his reception as Butterfly and Pinkerton’s son.
Bravi !
