MASTERCLASSES for SINGERS

July 2nd-July 22nd 2013

Over the past five years nearly all of my visitors have been treated to operas and concerts at St Mark’s English Church on Via Maggio in Florence.

This intimate church setting enables opera lovers sitting only a few metres away from the performers, to get involved in the productions in a totally unique way … and to date everyone has wanted to come back for another performance – another great reason for them to visit me again in Florence!

The group are now in their 9th season. Their performances have been critically acclaimed by the Washington Post and The Guardian newspapers.
The performances are complete operas, apart from one or two slight adaptations to suit the intimate setting – the singers are all professional and love getting their regular standing ovations!

These events are generally rated as the Number One thing to do in Florence on Trip Advisor – and with good reason – the atmosphere ,ambiance, good humour and charm of the hosts and players make this a wonderful venue. And  whether or not you actually know and like Opera – it is a great way to learn about it!

The St Mark’s Opera is the brainchild of Franz Moser

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Franz Moser who was born in 1956 in Holland by Austrian parents, studied piano with Ferdinand Bogner in Graz, and graduated in law in 1980.

In 1985 he began organizing symphony concerts in Vienna with the Wiener Residenz Orchester, which he founded in 1989 and still exists.

The orchestra in time became increasingly more important with the celebration of 200 years after Mozart’s death in 1991 and featuring the dancer Rudolf Nureyev as a director, giving concerts in Ravenna, Varese, Athens (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8pM0B6N1AQ&feature=relmfu), Deauville and Vienna.

In 2002 he moved with his wife Ilse to Tuscany, where he founded the Musical Association “Concert Classico”, which holds performances in St.Mark ‘s Church with its own opera company, in Via Maggio 18.

Franz has performed as accompanying pianist in Germany, Holland, Denmark, Ireland, the United States (San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, New York, Boston)

So if you are interested in singing with an Opera Group between July 2nd-July 22nd you will have your chance!
