Concerto with Modo Antiquo at the British Institute in Florence – in modo medievale
Federico Maria Sardelli is an Italian conductor, Historicist composer, musicologist andflautist. He and his wife, Bettina Hoffmann form the heart of the Baroque ensemble Modo Antiquo, which performed a concert , Dolcissimo Sospiro on behalf of the Festa della Cultura – San Giovanni Battista 2013

The ensemble included soprano Claudia Conese and Giovanni Bellini as well as the two founders of the group.
The programme included works from celebrated Italian composers Monteverdi, Caccini and Frescobaldi as well as less known works by Cima and Kapsberger – and maybe specially for the British Institute Come Again by John Dowland.
We were delighted to have a full house to enjoy an enchanting evening transported back to an antique world of expressive and sometimes melancholic music – very much in line with the Patron Saint of Florence – St John the Baptist.
