Glynis Barnes Mellish now has a regular group in both London and Florence who like to join our watercolour workshops – and for portraiture there seems to be no shortage of models – like Gordon shown above who thought he was in Florence for a holiday!!

Even although my husband John has never offered to bare (practically) all as Victor did for a Life Drawing session, he has also proved himself an excellent model – but we are always looking for new talent and new artists to join us.

Victor in Florence – please note the huge bunch of flowers preserving his modesty!

Sometimes we go back to basics and also make studies from Glynis’s Books Watercolour Workshops I & II – and just work on how to make a graded wash and how to turn a little blob of colour into a shiny fruit!

Or three strips of graded colour wash into a bright Tuscan landscape

Everyone got a result they were pleased with from this exercise –

Another successful exercise was painting a rose in a vase – Glynis teaches us to start soft and develop the colour .

It really makes it all look so simple – although it certainly isn’t easy!  Whilst Glynis herself specialises in Watercolour she has lots of experience in teaching in other mediums.

I always make a large warming lunch – at least for the winter classes – and we have some painting water (wine) for an increase in boldness of approach, as well as general merriment, in the afternoons .

The sessions are meant to be instructive – but they are also fun!

The groups are always small so the cost for the day is £60 – which is a generous offer on Glynis’s part for a practically private full day lesson.

Glynis also teaches online through www.arttutor.com  and does presentations to other Art groups such as this demonstration in Leighton Buzzard last month – WOW!
