Interesting evening tonight  – out little study group with Professor Ian Bickerton not only enjoyed a lively discussion but also firmed up on the topics for the rest of May.

Our agenda is now as follows

Thursday 1 May – 6pm- Unification and Disunity – 1860 – 1945

Over our aperitivi – this session will explore the impact of Italian Unification, US Civil War and the two Great World Wars on the way that Anglo Americans view Italy.

All Sessions begin at 6pm – okay to pay at door but please advise the day before if you are joining us to enable me to ensure everyone gets properly fed – and wined!

Thanks to Prof Ian Bickerton and other attendees for making tonight’s session so enjoyable – our film was more Italy in the uptight English imagination – and right on the button – EM Forster’s ‘Where Angels Fear to Tread’.
