Interesting evening tonight – out little study group with Professor Ian Bickerton not only enjoyed a lively discussion but also firmed up on the topics for the rest of May.

Over our aperitivi – this session will explore the impact of Italian Unification, US Civil War and the two Great World Wars on the way that Anglo Americans view Italy.

Thanks to Prof Ian Bickerton and other attendees for making tonight’s session so enjoyable – our film was more Italy in the uptight English imagination – and right on the button – EM Forster’s ‘Where Angels Fear to Tread’.
For those of us entranced by Italy ( and Florence in particular!), these topics are never concluded and always fascinating!! So glad I got in on the preview session before having to take off — thank you cari participants and professore for such an engaging and enjoyable (and yummy) evening!
