What 3 Words? Good Concept – but we still can’t find our way around our home town!
Many thanks to our good friend John Willmore who has spent a great deal of time, effort and money sourcing various accoutrements to enable us to get around France in as safe a way as possible.
Since his visit this week we now have a Bluetooth device to enable hands-free contact from Husband to car and from driver to Husband, we have 2 French SIM cards to enable such contact to cost less money than calls to one another in France being diverted via the UK, and finally, we have a New App should find one another should we get lost – or find ourselves unfortunately unable to progress as we might like!
What 3 Words came highly recommended from other friends who periodically need to track one another down so we painstakingly downloaded it onto Husband’s borrowed phone and linked it with our patient friend’s phone and set off for our third Test Run to Tooting Bec Lido.
The cycle went fine and we met up at the appointed place without significant adventure – our only concern was that the promised text with the 3 relevant words to confirm his location hadn’t been received. Husband explained that he had been waiting for us to ring him first and was actually a little frustrated that we hadn’t called him.
Clearly, further miscommunication had occurred so we duly rang him and Husband set off to find a place to hide and send us the 3 words that would enable us to find him.
Beep – 3 words duly arrived – sturdy, shady, downward – John W checked the app so we could set off to find him. He shook his head, “No, I can’t see how he could have got to Charing Cross!” There is no way he could have cycled his way through several miles of London Traffic to the centre of the city in three minutes!
Another phone call “Er, Where are you?”
John H ” Well I can’t tell you that – the whole point of the exercise is to locate me on the App!”
John W “Quite so dear boy, but are you really at Charing Cross?”
John H “Of course not! How could I possibly have got there?”
JohnW “Indeed not – but these are the co-ordinates you have just sent us! May I suggest that you try again?”
John H – sighs and low grumbles “Ba!” and another 3 words duly appear on the screen.
“Oh dear John – I don’t like to doubt you but this location also seems unlikely”
John W passed me his phone where I saw that my clever Husband had managed, without even clambering onto his bicycle, to get himself into the interior of Clarence House , the home of Prince William and the lovely Kate!
Well, perhaps this isn’t going to be easy but we need to work on it – so on Monday Test Day 5 – we will just have to try harder!
