Casa Guidi is a fifteenth-century palazzo in Piazza San Felice, 8,and as we have a friend Victor , who lives there and loves to model – and we love to use the substantial space and beautiful views from the famous windows – immortalised by Elizabeth Barrett Browning in her poem Casa Guidi Windows.

Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning lived in the  piano nobile apartment between 1847 and Elizabeth’s death in 1861.

The flat was bequeathed to Eton College on the death of the Browning’s son Pen and has been lovingly restored with period furniture to a facsimile of how it was during their tenure.

She was buried in the English Cemetery in Florence in a tomb which was featured in the early part of Tea with Mussolini 

This weekend 20-21-22 April we are holding more painting classes in the apartment above the Brownings apartment – large, bright, airy and with such beautiful views it is a perfect place to hold a watercolour workshop with Glynis Barnes Mellish

Victor is moving to a new home next year so this will be one of the last opportunities to paint in this wonderful location.
