Dear Victor , I don’t think I know anyone else of our vintage who would so willingly shed clothing after picking up on a lamentation from Glynis and I that in a previous attempt to do Life Drawing in Florence we had only been offered a bunch of plastic flowers ……!
But the sight that greeted our arrival at Casa Guidi this morning was Victor divesting his red dressing gown – ready and willing to bare practically all so we could relive our art college experience………….what a star!
This presented an entirely different challenge to painting and drawing my husband’s portrait the day before, but we had great lighting and a superb teacher so we all achieved some three-dimensionality in our work and some resemblance to our model.
And happily Victor didn’t seem too precious about being flattered within our images and understood that our learning was about getting a three dimensional image in space!
Two days completed – tomorrow we go back to portraits again – but a huge vote of thanks to Victor – I had forgotten how pleasantly challenging drawing from life is!
